PADI Mermaid Instructors who meet the requirements of the PADI Mermaid Instructor Trainer Course and agree to use the PADI System and components in their entirety may apply to become a PADI Mermaid Instructor Trainer.

To become a Mermaid Instructor Trainer, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a PADI Mermaid Instructor
- Have issued at least 50 PADI Basic Mermaid certifications or higher with experience in teaching all levels of the PADI Mermaid Program
- Be a current Emergency First Response Instructor (or qualifying CPR/first aid instructor)
- Current medical statement by a physician
